Happy Memorial Day!

I apologize for the lack of posts this weekend! I am spending lots of time with my family and relaxing during this long weekend. Enjoy yourselves & remember all of those men and women who have sacrificed so much for our freedom. I'll be back to regular posting on Tuesday with a belated Mail Call Monday (no mail on Monday this week!) & of course, "My Favorite Deals" will be posted on Wednesday morning!

Happy Memorial Day!

Saturday Shopping!

I headed out this morning to do some Saturday shopping at Fry's (more Powerade!), WalMart (summer fun stuff!), & the Superstition Ranch Market (amazingly cheap fresh produce).
FRY'S
I filled up my car at the Fry's gas station using my 10 cent fuel rewards I have accumulated and paid 2.49/gallon - wowza! Then I headed inside for 2 more cases of Powerade. I used 15 .75/2 tearpad MQs for a total cost of 90 cents plus .03 tax. Paid .93 on a Fry's gift card.

WALMART
I went to Wally World because we needed some summer essentials ... bubbles and a water toy! What is Memorial Day weekend without backyard fun? Well, I forgot the bubbles :( but I did find an awesome flower sprinkler that attaches to the hose and whips water all over the place on clearance for $3.00! I also picked up a pack of boneless skinless chicken breasts for 3.10 (price matched to Safeway) and 1.00 hamburger buns and hot dog buns. While I was there, I stopped by the RedBox and grabbed a free rental of "Dear John" to watch later tonight. My total was 8.10 paid on a WalMart gift card.

SUPERSTITION RANCH MARKET
I have professed my love for the farmer's market before on this blog, but look at all that colorful, fresh produce! How can you not want one of everything? And I only spent 10.88 total!

1.42 red seedless grapes (.69/lb.)
1.19 5 pound bag of potatoes
.50 strawberries (1 lb.)
.99 blueberries
.99 yellow peach (.89/lb.)
.34 kiwi
.34 mango
.59 tomatoes (.69/lb.)
.34 iceberg lettuce
.31 nectarine (1.29/lb.)
.34 orange bell pepper
.25 yellow & red bell peppers
1.26 bananas (.59/lb.)
.57 green beans (1.49/lb.)
.17 cucumber
.10 white corn (3 ears @ .10 each)
.34 blackberries (2)
.92 seedless watermelon (.12/lb.)
TOTAL = 10.88

TOTAL OOP = 10.88

75 Powerades for $3.00!

I wait for this Fry's Powerade sale all year and then I stock up! We were just getting down to our last case from last year's sale, so this was great timing! If you can find the .75/2 Powerade tearpad Qs, you can stock up at 3 cents per bottle! I have seen these coupons everywhere (Circle K, QT, & Fry's), but they expire 5/31/10, so you have to hurry and use them by Monday. The limit is 3 cases (or 45 bottles) per transaction, so I did 2 orders.

#1
.80 Powerade (45)
-5 free wyb 10 store discount (.80 x 15 = 12.00 discount)
-.75/2 tearpad Q (22)
2.00 cost
My cashier doubled all of these, but YMMV. Their policy is 3 like coupons doubled per order.

2.24 Mirra make-up brushes (6)
-5.00/2 IPQ - print here
1.56 overage
You may or may not get the overage on these. If the cashier doesn't push these through, ask the cashier to adjust the coupon price down or just buy a Mirra product that is more expensive, like the Mirra cleansing cloths for 2.99 so you get over the 5.00 mark.

1.19 Bounty Basic paper towel
-.25/1 MQ 5/2 PG
.19
This coupon expires 5/31/10, so if you have any left, use them up before Monday!

1.00 Right Guard deodorant (14)
-.55/1 MQ (14) from Safeway May 2010 HBA coupon booklet - found in beauty aisle
FREE
Again, my cashier doubled all of these, but YMMV.
1.88 milk

2.51 subtotal + .90 tax = 3.41 total
Paid with $3 Kraft Dressing OYNO and .41 on Fry's gift card
3.41 cost

#2
.80 Powerade (30)
-5 free wyb 10 store discount (.80 x 10 = 8.00 discount)
-.75/2 tearpad Q (15) - My cashier doubled all of these, but YMMV. Their policy is 3 doubled per order.
1.00 cost

1.00 subtotal + .53 tax = 1.53 total paid on Fry's giftcard

FINAL SUMMARY: 4.94 cost

Safeway & Bashas

I got some of my shopping done today. I'd rather not go out over the long weekend, so I tried to get some of it out of the way today...

SAFEWAY:
5.99 Tide Stain Release (with in-ad Q)
-3.00/1 PG Home Mailer or 5/2 MQ PG
-3.00/1 EQ - load here
.01 overage

1.00 Zone Perfect bars (3)
-.55/1 MQ 5/16 SS (3)
FREE

1.99 Ziploc Containers (4) - price wyb 3+
-.55/1 MQ 5/16 SS (4)
3.96 OOP, Earned (2) $2 OYNO
.04 profit

.33 Sun Rype Strips (2) - price good through 6/15
-BOGO IPQ - print here (auto'd at .59)
4 cents each

.99 Oscar Meyer Hardwood Smoked Turkey Hot Dogs (2) with in-ad Q
-1.00/1 green peelie found on package (2)
.01 overage each
The green peelie is only good on the Angus and Hardwood Smoked Turkey varieties. A previous commenter noticed the Angus was not included in the .99 sale, so we assumed the green peelies did not apply to this sale. However, when I went to my Safeway today, I noticed the Hardwood Smoked Turkey variety is included. And these are the ones I wanted anyway - turkey and no nitrates! Time to stock up!

1.99 Sun-Maid Raisin Boxes
-.55/1 peelie MQ
.99
We are out of raisins and 99 cents is a good price - cheaper than the Safeway brand!

5.00 subtotal + .98 tax = 5.98 on Safeway gift card
Earned (2) $2 OYNO
SUMMARY = 1.98 cost

I was planning on cashing in my 9 Pantene 1.00/1 MQs for the .99 clearanced products I found (thanks for the tip Sheryl!),  but every coupon beeped because it exceeded the price. The manager said he would push 3 through, but not all 9. I just took them all off. I'll go to another Safeway. The one I went to (Val Vista/Southern) didn't have any shampoo or conditioner anyway. It was all hair spray and gel.

Today was a fantastic day to find coupons at Safeway! Here's what I found:
  • "Add Dairy to Your Summer Adventure" Coupon Booklets - I've seen these all over the coupon blogs, but hadn't seen them here before today. They have arrived in AZ! There were tons in plastic hanging cases in front of the cheese, yogurt, and near the milk. Make sure to pick one up - they are full of awesome MQ & Store dairy Qs!
  • 1.00/1 O Organic Coupons - I've been hearing about these mythical coupons for awhile, so I was excited to finally see some at my Safeway at the pharmacy counter. It's a single coupon on cardstock good for 1.00/1 O Organic item and it doesn't expire until 12/31/10! Other couponers are getting free Organic dairy by pairing this coupon up with clearanced items. Keep your eyes peeled for these little treasures!
  • May 2010 HBA Coupon Booklets - I had a few from earlier in the month, but I wanted to grab another few so I could stock up on free Right Guard deodorant at Fry's using the .55/1 MQ in these booklets. (Thanks for the heads up Sheryl and KC!)
BASHAS
I had a few of the 1.00/2 Bar S MQs, but I knew each transaction had a limit of 2 with a $10 minimum purchase. So, I went to self check-out, and before scanning my Bashas card, I scanned 2 hot dogs, plus enough items to get me over the $10 requirement. Then, I scanned my Bashas card and my coupons. Each of my transactions needed a banana or two to bring it positive. I didn't pay any OOP at Bashas. Here are the deals I got:

.47 Bar S Hot Dogs (6)* (with in-ad Q)
-1.00/2 MQ 5/16 RP
.06 overage
* These were split into multiple transactions of 2.

.99 American Beauty pasta (2)
-.50/1 IPQ (2) - print here
FREE

.99 Vlassic Relish (4)
-.55/1 IPQ (4) - print here
.01 overage each

1.00 Farmer John sausage
-.75/1 IPQ - print here
FREE

.59/lb. bananas - fillers

While at Bashas, I realized the McCormick Grillmates were 1.50, not 1.00, so no free seasoning. Oh well, I'm sure it will be free pretty soon here.

I found lots of tearpad, blinkie, & peelie Qs. My favorite was Free Eggs wyb 2 Kellogg's cereals.

Bashas at Crismon & Baseline is always fun because you get to scan your own coupons in. I LOVE that because I can verify the sales prices as I scan the items & make sure each coupon is scanned and none are stuck together and missed.

New Kraft Instant Win Game!

And the instant win games just keep on coming!
This one is Kraft has a fun new instant win game you can play called Noodlette.
  • .55/2 Blue Box Macaroni & Cheese
  • B2G1 Mac & Cheese Cups
  • BOGO Kraft Mac & Cheese Homestyle Dinners

I was confused on how to get the spinning noodle started, but after a few spins, it seems like you just hover over it with the mouse and move the mouse really fast. I don't know if that's how you're suuposed to do it, but it worked for me. My first game, I racked up 11,000 points! This qualified me for all 3 coupons (these are Bricks IPQs, so print each one twice).

Also, there is a Target Q available to print for a free Kraft Homestyle Deluxe Macaroni & Cheese Dinner when you buy 2. It expires 6/5 and would be awesome to stack with the BOGO IPQ you win. You can play as many times as you want, but you can't print any more than 2 of each coupon from the same computer.

This is the button I'll post on the right side of  my blog for this Kraft instant win game:

Good luck! Win some coupons so we can all fulfill our $10 Kraft rebates from the Facebook promo (no longer available). All purchases have to be made by 6/13, so these Kraft IPQs are just in time!

Also, here is a recap of the other Freebies & Giveaways listed on the right side of my blog....

    • Safeway's Dairy Summer Adventure - Enter daily for a variety of awesome prizes and a grand prize of Ultimate Summer Backyard Makeover. Runs through 6/21/10.

    • Circle K Diamondbacks Strike Out Meter promo - Seems like coupons are released the day after Diamondbacks home games. Next home game is 6/4/10.

    • AZ Central 30 Prizes in 30 Days - Enter daily for awesome daily and weekly prizes including movie & concert tickets. Runs through 6/15/10.

    • Kraft Noodlette Instant Win Game - Play as many times as you want to earn points towards high value Kraft coupons. Runs through 8/9/10.

    • 3 Free Taco Bell Tacos When Diamondbacks Score 6+ Runs - The deal is good from 4-6PM the day AFTER the team scores six runs. Ask for the Diamondbacks Special. Purchase of one large soft drink is required. Runs through baseball season.

    Target & Free Flashlights!

I ran over to Target today for a few deals. I wanted to replicate KC's awesome Venus razor deal, but sadly, the razors were only clearanced to 4.24 at the Target on Gilbert & Southern and Power & Southern in Mesa. I even scanned them to make sure. This still makes them a .52 money maker, but after tax, it would probably be a wash. I was hoping for a 2.04 money maker and honestly, I have enough razors. I'll wait and see if they'll come down in price at all this week.
    .
    3.00 Mountain Dew 12 pk. (5)
-1.00/2 Target Q (2) - print here - scroll down & click on "Coupons" at bottom
-2.00/4 MQ - print here A commenter reported this is a counterfeit coupon. It's not on the CIC list of fradulent coupons, but you may want to call PepsiCo to verify.
11.00 OOP, earned $5 gift card for purchasing 5 12-pks.
    6.00 cost or 1.20 each
    Thanks Hounding with FrugalSuz!
My husband likes Mountain Dew and at 1.20 per 12-pk., we're out of it, & 1.20 is not a bad stock up price for the summer.

My sweet baby girl "needed" some clothing for her 2 year pictures. :) And she honestly needed a couple of church dresses. We have tubs and tubs of hand-me-down clothing she's been wearing since she was born, but there seems to be a lull in our supply around 2T. Remember how I said I was getting ready to do a mall trip? Well, I did, and I couldn't bring myself to spend $24 on a dress for my 1 year old. Or $12 for a pair of shorts. I mean, really. She's going to grow out of it in 6 months anyway. So, I ditched the mall idea and decided to head to Target. I used this $5.00 off 30.00 in Cherokee children's apparal IPQ and a couple of 2.50/1 Target hangtag Qs (finally found a couple of these!) to bring my OOP down. Here's how I did:

11.00 Brown & White Flower Dress - LOVE THIS!
4.48 puffy White Flowered Dress - clearanced
    5.00 Pink Blouse
    6.00 Plaid Shorts
    2.98 C9 clearanced Girl's Shirt -2.50/1 hangtag found on Tide with Febreeze = .48
    2.98 C9 clearanced Boy's Shirt -2.50/1 hangtag found on Tide with Febreeze = .48
32.44 before coupons, 22.44 after $5/30 and 2 2.50/1 hangtag Target coupons (in that order).
As much as it makes me want to puke to spend money like this, I am happy with what I got for $22.
Total Target Cost = 28.44 paid with Target gift cards

I also had 3 free LED flashlight coupons at Harbor Freight. They were in the Harbor Freight ad in the Sunday paper on 2/14, 3/7, 4/18, & 5/2. They do say one per customer, so I was worried I'd have to come back daily to collect all my flashlights. The cashier was super nice and gave me all 3 in one transaction. They are bigger than I thought they would be and I am excited to use these for emergency kits & stocking stuffers. Make sure you use up all those coupons and get your free LED flashlights too!

Tearpad Hunting & Online Safeway Instant Win Game

I went out on a coupon hunt today.

I went to a few Circle K gas stations looking for more Powerade tearpad MQs for the sale at Fry's this week. I didn't find any more of those, but I did find lots of other great coupons:
    • 1.00/2 1-liter or 1.00/1-2 liter A&W, 7Up, Canada Dry, or Sunkist - I see free soda in my future!
    • 1.00/2 1-liter Dasani bottled water
    • 1.00/1 Minute Maid Enhanced bottled Juice Drink, 12 oz.
    • 1.00/1 Breyer's Ice Cream pint
    • 1.00/2 12 oz. 8-pk. Pepsi, Crush, Sierra Mist, Mountain Dew peelies
There are lots of awesome prizes from these manufacturers:
Plus, there are other instant win prizes and the grand prize includes a patio set, gas BBQ, fire pit, & outdoor cooler!
    Here is the fine print:
    1. You can enter once a day through 6/21/10.
    2. Each daily play automatically enters you for a chance to win the Ultimate Summer Backyard Makeover - see prizes here.
    3. Contest is open to residents of: AK, AZ, CA, CO, DC, DE, HI, ID, IL, MD, MT, NE, NJ, NM, NV, OR, PA, SD, TX, VA, WA, WY. Must be 18 years or older.
Between this game, the Circle K Diamondbacks promotion, the AZ Central give away, and the Taco Bell Diamondbacks Taco Deal, I think we need a section on the blog to remind us of these daily win games! I will post these on the right side of my blog so we can all remember to enter every day!

And of course, if any of you are lucky to win any of these prizes, please let us know so we can get excited for you!

    Yard Sale Finds in California!

We were out of town visiting family this weekend in Southern California, where it was freezing cold & raining! What the heck? I don't think the So Cal meteorologists got the memo that it's almost June! My little sister and I went out and hunted down a few great yard sales.

    Here's what we found:

    1.00 Dress (worn once!)
    .50 Children's Place Hats
    .50 Old Navy Sweater
    .50 I Spy Book

    2.00 Closet Organizer
I am so excited about this! My daughter's pants are in piles on a closet shelf, but the piles always get mixed together. This will keep them seperate and organized! (This is my super cute little sister modeling the organizer!)

Get excited ... this is the most amazing find ever!
1.00 Antique Coupon Organizer FULL of Coupons with No Expiration Dates!
Look at these old, yellowed coupons! Some of them are so old, they don't even have bar codes at all! Wow. I wonder if the redemption addresses are still valid.
You know me. Coupons are my passion. I saw this little treasure sitting on a driveway for $2. I couldn't believe my eyes! I felt like Al from Al's Toy Barn (Toy Story 2) when he found Woody at the yard sale. As I was looking through all the coupons in speechless amazement, the yard sale woman said she would take a dollar for it! GAH! Is this woman crazy? She clearly had no idea what she had here! Well, I whipped out that dollar and tucked this little treasure under my arm. I can't wait to really take an inventory of what I have so I can start putting these to use. I just couldn't wait to post this because I knew all my couponing friends would share in my delight!

What have you found at yard sales recently?

Getting your hair did - the Arizona Savings way!

I have a confession to make. I cannot remember the last time I got a really great hair cut. When I was in college, I used to get my hair highlighted, cut, & styled every 6 weeks - at a cost of $60 per appointment! Gah! I have turned into such a cheapskate, there is no way I could bring myself to spend money like that. So, I occasionally go to a discount hair salon like Supercuts or Great Clips. These are fine for a simple haircut, but I haven't had my hair styled in ages. I just let my hair grow ... and grow.. and grow, until it was to my lower back and hung there, dead... like drapes on the side of my head. I had to figure out a frugal way to get my hair done.

    Enter Brillare Hairdressing Academy...
Brillare is a local hair academy in the valley with 2 locations (one in Chandler 10/Chandler Blvd. & one in Scottsdale off Scottsdale/Camelback). They train students in all aspects of hair styling, cutting, coloring, and other salon services. But they need people to practice on, right?

    Enter you...
Don't get skeptical yet! It may sound a little sketchy to have newbie hair stylists working on your hair, but I have only had FABULOUS experiences with the students. They have experienced instructors who closely monitor all cuts, color, and styling.

Now here comes the exciting part... the prices are ridiculously low!
I know you're excited now! See the full list here!

As if this weren't enough, they also do waxing services! I got my hair shampood, cut, and styled and I got my lip and eyebrows waxed yesterday for $24 total plus tip!

So, all my frugal friends, go treat yourself to a little mini-makeover for super cheap! Click here for contact information and to make an appointment!

    Fry's, Wags, & Albie's = 1.24 cost!

    ALBIE'S
I had some rainchecks for Bugles & Suddenly Salad to cash in, but as I stood in the check-out line, I realized my Bugles MQs expired on 5/15! Sad. Oh well. Probably didn't need those tasty, unhealthy snacks in my house. Also the Marcal 4 pack of toilet paper is priced at $1.00 through 6/1/10 and the Marcal paper towels (singe roll) is priced at $1 through 9/23/10! I got shut down on the 2.00/1 Marcal toilet paper MQs because they would have created overage. They wouldn't even take 3 coupons on 6 toilet papers making the whole transaction a wash. Fine. At least he let my DND .40/1 Suddenly Salad IPQs triple up to $1.

I don't think this is in the ad, but the Knorr Buillon Cubes (not the mini-cubes) are priced at 79 cents each! Pair that up with the .35/1 and .45/1 MQs from the La Voz Smart Source en Espanol from a few weeks ago (no date on the insert spine) and you've got FREE seasoning! I go through this stuff like water when I make Spanish rice, so I stocked up. I got 14 packs and made 2.80 overage! If you buy more than 10, make sure to split these up into seperate transactions. After 10, the register rings them up at 99 cents each.

    Free Smart Ones at Fry's 5/23 - 5/25!

    Clear out your freezers!
Natalie left a comment with this AWESOME deal to share with all of us! And just in time for bathing suit season too! Our waistlines thank you Natalie!

There is a Smart Ones OYNO deal starting Sunday, 5/23. Here are the details:
Buy 6, get $3.00 off your next order
Buy 8, get $4.00 off your next order
Buy 10, get $5.00 off your next order

    Here's the deal:
    Buy 10 at $1 each = 10.00
    -5.00/10 IPQ - print here = 5.00
Pay 5.00 OOP, receive 5.00 OYNO
    Cost = FREE!

Then you repeat the above until you run out of 5.00/10 IPQs, using the $5 OYNO so you have no OOP and each time, you'll receive ANOTHER $5 OYNO!

This deal gets even sweeter if you have any additional Smart Ones MQs lying around. I have a booklet of Smart Ones MQs that came with my free insulated Smart Ones bag. They are all for a free Smart Ones product wyb 5 Smart Ones entrees, so I'll be using 2 per transaction. Hopefully, they'll auto and this will become a money maker, but if not, getting all these meals free is good enough for me!

I've tried all the different kinds of freezer meals and Smart Ones are my absolute favorite. I've been eating their Fettuccine Alfredo for the past couple of months after getting a ton free during the March Frozen Foods promo at Safeway. They are delicious and most of their entrees are under 300 calories.

Well, you know where I'll be ... in the freezer section at Fry's! See you there!

    Mega Swagbucks Friday!

It's Friday & you know what that means! It's Mega Swagbucks Friday! You can earn a ton more Swagbucks today, simply by searching the internet on a Friday!

For you non-Swaggers out there, you have no doubt seen Swagbucks discussed in the blogosphere - but what is it? Swagbucks is an online search engine (like Google or Yahoo) that rewards you with Swagbucks when you search on their site. Swagbucks can be redeemed for all kinds of awesome things like books, magazines, & gift cards! If you're like me, you are probably skeptical and think it's a scam. It's not! KC over at Desert Deals Diva regularly redeems her Swagbucks for Amazon gift cards which funds her Christmas shopping! What a great way to pay for Christmas just by using the internet as you normally would! And it only takes 450 Swagbucks to earn a $5 Amazon gift card. Sounds like a lot, but you will be amazed how quickly those Swagbucks rack up.

    Ready to sign up yet?

If you're on the fence, today is a great time to sign up. Each Friday, Swagbucks are multiplied, so instead of earning 5 or 10, you can earn 50, 100, or even 1000 Swagbucks on a single search! All you have to do is click here to get started!

What are you waiting for? Start swaggin' it up!

    UPDATED! Mall Savings!

    UPDATES IN BLUE!
When I was a teenager, I would regularly go to the mall and blow through a couple hundred dollars, no problem. I lived with my parents and had a part time job with no bills. Wow, how times have changed! I would throw up if I spent that much money now. I am planning a trip to the mall in the next couple of days because I need to grab a new swimsuit for my daughter and I need some new work clothing. I am cringing inside thinking about having to spend real cash.

So, to make this as inexpensive as possible, I have been rounding up coupons to use. I'm planning on heading out to Arizona Mills in Tempe so I can shop the outlet stores for additional savings. Here are the coupons I've got so far...

Free Travel Size Signature Collection Item when you spend $5 or more (sign up req.)
20% off any purchase (exp. 5/23/10)
In my mail yesterday, I got what I've been waiting for ... a $10/30 purchase Q for Bath & Body Works! Only problem is, it expired May 9th! :( I'm taking it with me anyway! The worst they can say is no. Darn postman!

I found a Gymboree coupon for 20% off my entire purchase in my free Parents magazine. It came with a 3.00/1 Tide Stain Release coupon.

$1.00 flip flops this Saturday, 5/22 only while supplies last. Limit 5 per person. No coupon required.

Do you guys know of any other retail coupons floating around out there?
