Free Things To Do This Weekend!

Why spend money entertaining the family this weekend when there are so many free activities going on?

Here are a few of my favorites:
Friday
6-10pm - First Fridays Self Guided Art Walk, Downtown Phoenix
The best way to get to know downtown Phoenix and experience its diverse culture is to hoof it -- take Artlink's monthly self-guided tour and visit the art galleries, shops, restaurants and bars that make downtown Phoenix a unique destination. From urban contemporary to high-end fine art, the eclectic mix of artwork has made this a must-attend event for more than a decade. Free shuttles get you from 'hood to 'hood and begin at the Phoenix Art Museum.

6pm - Movie in the Park - "Up", Kiwanis Park, Tempe
Watch "Up," an animated feature about a man who ties balloons to his house so that he can fulfill his lifelong dream of exploration. Once he is in the air, he discovers that he has a stowaway - an 8-year-old wilderness explorer. Bring blankets and a picnic dinner.

Saturday
9am-1pm - Butterfly Bash, Veterans Oasis Park, Chandler
Come and watch as Monarch butterflies migrate for the fall and pass through Veterans Oasis Park. The Monarch butterfly is celebrated with games, crafts, guided walks, presentations and information for participants to take home.

2pm - Volcom Stone Wild in the Park Championship, Peoria
Watch pre-qualified competitors skateboard in the park. The ultimate winner walks away with a $25,000 cash prize.

All Weekend
Tempe Oktoberfest, Tempe Beach Park
Celebrate the 38th anniversary of this three-day festival featuring polka dancing, multiple entertainment stages and a Kinderfest area with activities focused on children. Get a taste of the German culture with strudel, bratwurst and of course, beer. The beer garden is not only stocked with brews from Germany, but with beers from Ireland, France, China and the United States.

Winner of the $35 CSN gift certificate!

Congratulations to mamipdx - the winner of the $35 CSN gift certificate!

I will contact you with further instructions to collect your gift certificate.

Thanks to everyone who entered the give away.

Stay tuned, there are always more give aways right around the corner!

Total paid out of pocket was 6 cents!
After factoring in the 1.00 OYNO I received, I made 94 cents! Yippee!

I also stopped into Safeway to see if they had restocked their Nesquik yet.
They did, so I cashed in my raincheck and grabbed 3 free after the .35/1 tearpad coupons I found at Circle K. While I was checking out, a 1.10 EQ came off. I have no idea where it came from or how long its been on my card, so I grabbed a Reese's to bring the balance out of the negative. I paid 6 cents tax.

12 cents well spent... :)

A Late Mail Call Monday

And the picture refuses to turn the correct way ... nice!

I did get my grocery ads early on Monday, but I didn't get this posted until tonight. So, no need for an early preview! I will have My Favorite Deals list posted tomorrow morning for the new week of sales!

I did receive my free General Mills samples from the Que Loca Vida campaign. That was super fast! I got a box of Hamburger Helper, a box of Fiber One cereal, and a coupon for 1.00/2 Totino's products. Yay!

I also got a free issue of OK Magazine. Snooki is anorexic now? Honestly...

Valid 9/3/10 through 9/30/10. Fountain drinks only.

I am so excited about this freebie! I still have some Kellogg's cereal Toy Story concession money left over from that Target cereal deal, so I look at this as a great way to stretch that free concession money! Free fountain drinks are always a great deal!

You Asked! Questions from Readers

I always like to post questions from readers for everyone to see - who knows, someone else could have the same exact question! Here are some questions and deals I've received in the past few days...

I saw on your 9-22 post that you can buy bread for .50 after the target coupon that you used at Fry's. Does Fry's take target coupons now? I didn't know that if they do now? - Monica

Hi Monica! Yes! Fry's began accepting Target coupons a couple of weeks ago. They actually list Target in their ad as a competitor, so that makes it super easy in case a cashier questions you (one questioned me last week). Click here for these (plus more!) awesome Target coupons you can use at Fry's:

  • .50/1 Market Pantry bread

  • 2.00 off Market Pantry frozen chicken

  • 1.00 off fresh produce - I think this one might be gone. I already printed it, so I can't tell.
I had my Parent's magazine delivered to my house but didn't see any codes...am I just missing them? - Jenny
Hi Jenny! Which month's Parents magazine are you referring to? The 20% discount codes were in the August & September Parents and Parenting Early Years magazines. The October issue did not have any Amazon codes :( They look like this... (with an expiration date of 9/30/10)
You can still purchase the October issue of Parents magazine at stores, but hurry before those get pulled down to make room for the November issues! You can also enter my give away for the 4 W codes I have left! I will post the details later this afternoon!

Hi! I was at my Frys store in Goodyear and they were marking the Oscar Mayer hot dogs down to $.99!! I know Target a while back had a coupon for $1 off of 2 (exp 11/3) which would make an even better deal! Do you know of any other coupons for OM hot dogs? Just thought I would share with everyone! =) - Kim

Great find! I know we got a MQ for 1.00/2 Oscar Mayer Hot Dogs in the 8/22 SS. It expires 10/17/10. I'm not sure if your Fry's was marking down the "Selects" variety of Oscar Mayer Hot Dogs, but if they were, here is a link for 1.00 off 1 Oscar Mayer Selects. To access the coupon, you'll have to tell the website what puts you in a good mood and then like them on Facebook. Thanks for the heads up!

If any of you ever have questions, deals, or want to share photos of your shopping conquests, send them all to arizonasavings@gmail.com!
