I have been looking forward to this day all week, not only because it's Friday. Today, the Honey Bunches of Oats cat started printing (details here) making a very profitable deal at Safeway! The HBO price varies from 1.50 to 2.00 depending on your Safeway. The first Safeway I went to had the 1.50 sale price, but they shut me down on the Real CA milk Qs. So, I abandoned cart and headed to the Safeway a couple of miles away. Their HBO was priced at $2 each, but I had the other SW's ad, so they honored the 1.50 price. Be aware of the price differences and make sure you shop at the SW that has 1.50 HBO.
1.50 Honey Bunches of Oats (5)
2.19 milk (5)
3.00 Special K (2)
2.09 eggs
.31 tax
26.85 subtotal
-2.00 for in-ad Special K SWQ
-BOGO Special K IPQ no longer available (deducted $3)
-1/1 Kellogg's cereal pink peelie found at Bashas
-2/1 HBO blinkies found on dairy case doors (5)
-.55/1 Real CA milk IPQ (5)
My total should have been 5.85, but when the manager fixed the price of the HBOs, she took off too much. She should have only deducted 2.50, but instead she took off 4.00.
4.35 total paid OOP, earned $4 OYNO
SUMMARY = .35 cost!
I was expecting a higher OOP, but I couldn't figure out what happened until I studied my receipt at home. YMMV on using the milk Qs along with the HBO qs. There are no beeps, but I had a cranky cashier who was determined to shut me down on something. I pointed out that neither Q said that it couldn't be combined with other Qs. She asked one manager and she said it was fine. But, then she felt the need to double check with a different manager who said the milk didn't have the CA seal. I was done explaining every coupon to these people, so I just voided the entire order and headed to the next Safeway. I had no problems at the second store.
One thing to note, if you are going to do the Special K deal with both Qs, one will beep because the BOGO attaches to 2 items. However, I read an interesting post on Krazy Coupon Lady explaining why you should be able to do this - read it here. The second Q beeped, but the cashier pushed it right through. I figured I would try it out and if they denied it, I would just have them take the Special K off my order.
If you need cereal or milk, Safeway is the place to be!

Bookman's & a great mail day!
Over the weekend, I gathered up a stack of free magazines and some old books that were collecting dust, so I took those to Bookman's today. I got $15 in store credit and immediately bought Pirates of the Caribbean 2 & 3. We've been wanting to add the Pirates trilogy to our DVD collection and free was the right price! One of the DVDs was still in the original shrink wrap! I love that Bookman's gives you a 30 day guarantee to make sure all DVDs play. Why would you ever buy a new DVD?
Today was a great mail day! I got 2 free magazines, my free Oreos and $1/1 MQs from Kraft First Taste, and a free sample of Kashi cereal (including MQs, one being a free Q!). Tomorrow's the last day for grocery sales so if you haven't been to Bashas for .39 Quaker items, get there tomorrow!

.39 Quaker items at Bashas!
There is a great deal on Quaker products this week at Bashas! This ad is on the front page of the store circular this week. If you buy 5 Quaker products and use this coupon, you'll get each for 1.39 each. That's a pretty good price all on its own. But, if you add in a manufacturer coupon for each item, you can get some of the pictured items for .39 each!
.
.
Here are some coupons you can use...
Quaker Chewy Granola Bars .55/1 (2/13/10) 1/3 RP #2
Quaker Fiber & Omega-3 Granola Bars .55/1 box (3-31-10) 1/24 RP
Quaker Instant Oatmeal $1 (3-31-10) 2/7 RP
Quaker Old Fashioned or Quick Oats .50 (3-31-10) 2/7 RP
.
.
.
I checked Bashas website for confirmation that you can use a store coupon in conjunction with a MQ. Their coupon policy is really vague and doesn't address it all. I can confirm, I've used store Qs + MQs on the same item this week and have never had a problem.
Also, check and see if your local Bashas has a self check-out. I like to scan my own Qs, so I can make sure no Qs were missed and the DND/DNT Qs automatically double & triple. This sale is good through Tuesday!

Safeway & Bashas
I found lots of fun surprises in my mailbox today! I signed up for a free freezer tote bag from Sam's Club, so I got that today. It's actually really big and I am excited to use it for my shopping trips. It will especially come in handy during the hot summer when I am running in and out of stores. I also got an issue of my free Parenting subscription and a $25 transfer check for Walgreens. What a fantastic mail day!

Free toothpaste at CVS
Well, the Wags deals are really lacking this week and next week, so unless some crazy, unadvertised deal comes up, I will probably be at CVS more often. Stopped in for a quick toothpaste run today...

Wags Friends & Family 15% Discount Day
I was excited to grab a bunch more diapers at 1.64 per pack with the 15% off discount Friday. It kind of turned into a disaster because none of my Wags had any Joint Juice or men's Dove to roll the RR back and forth. And the Huggies $3 RR stopped rolling ealier in the week, so my options were limited. When I realized my original plan wasn't going to work, I tried to cash in all my RR on a giftcard and just buy the diapers on a giftcard. No go. My cashier said no using RR to pay for a giftcard. I explained I was using the overage from other items to pay for the giftcard, but she was not having it. So, here's what I did, after spending almost 2 hours in Walgreens:
All prices reflect the 15% off price...
7.64 Huggies 1.64
.57 3 Musketeer's (4) .05 each
6.48 subtotal + .55 tax
Paid with $6 RR & 1.03 on giftcard
Earned 4.50 RR (3 Huggies, 1.50 3 Musketeers)
SUMMARY: 2.53 cost
At this point, I wanted to do another Axe/movie ticket deal and the next 2 weeks at Wags don't look that exciting, so I just decided to cash out all my RR.
5.09 Axe shampoo (2) 3.09
3.65 Axe deodorant (3) 3.65
.42 Vday candy (4) fillers
22.81 subtotal
-2/1 Axe shampoo peelies (2)
16.81 paid with (5) $3 Huggies RR & a 1.50 3 Musketeers RR
Put 2.02 on a giftcard and earned 2 free movie tickets
I will jump back into Wags when a great deal comes up. I have a love/hate relationship with Wags. When the deals are good, I can't get enough. But I get easily frustrated with all the "rules" and have to take a break every now and then. If I don't post again before tomorrow, have a Happy Valentine's day!

Quick Safeway Trip
I was excited about the free Betty Crocker cookie mix and cheap Betty Crocker brownie mix this week, so I headed to Safeway today with my eQs loaded up and ready to go.
I wasn't sure why my total was negative, so I threw a couple of Reese's candy bars on the order. I figured it was probably a couple of extra eQs that came off. I ended up paying .92 OOP on my debit card because I couldn't find my Safeway giftcard. I left it in my car. :( Darn it. That's a good lesson for me to remember to put things back where they belong.
After studying my receipt, I realized there were 4 coupons for the Go-Gurt scanned, when there should have only been 2. I think my cashier may have accidentally scanned each one twice. I'll go back tomorrow because I want to stay on my local Safeway's good side and I want to be able to sleep at night too. :)

Tomorrow, I am heading to Wags for the 15% off family and friends event. I'll stock up on the rest of my diapers at an even lower price than I got earlier in the week! Hooray!

I love stocking up on diapers at rock bottom prices! I don't mind spending Wags money so I never have to make that emergency diaper trip and pay full price. I may have to grab a few more packs before the sale ends.
I was excited to find the Motrin deal. I wish it included the 6-18 months age Motrin, but my daughter will be 2 in August, so I'll be able to use it soon. I bought Motrin with an expiration date of September 2012, so I know I'll use it before it expires. Nothing like stocking up on super cheap medicine!
DISCLAIMER- The Huggies RR could stop rolling at any moment. It's a glitch, so beware of that.

Wags & Safeway
WAGS
We use lots of Axe at our house so between the 25% off Axe sale, 2 free movie tickets wyb 5 Axe, and the $5 Wags RR when you spend $25, it was a perfect storm for me!
10.00 Joint Juice powder mix FREE
3.21 Axe deodorant (5) 25% off sale
.69 Royal jello - filler
26.74 + 2.10 tax = 28.84 subtotal
-.49 Wags in-ad Q Royal jello
-1/1 Axe IPQs and peelies (4) only had 4
22.25 subtotal paid with $18 RR & 4.25 on gcard
Earned $10 RR (Joint Juice) + $5 Wags RR + 2 free movie tickets cat
SUMMARY = $7.25 cost before factoring in 2 movie tickets.
I think $7 for 2 movie tickets is a smoking deal, so I am happy with this transaction. I found a couple of $2/1 Axe shampoo peelies on the Axe deodorant (I've been hearing about these). If I can gather up a few more tomorrow, it may be worth it to grab 5 shampoos for 2 more movie tickets.
