Kmart & CVS Trips!

I haven't been to CVS in a really long time due to lackluster deals, but this Skittles/Starburst deal lured me in! While I was there, I found the 3.62 clearanced Conair blow dryers I've seen all over the coupon blogs this week - yay!

CVS & Fry's!

I'm not sure how it happened, but our household ran out of lots of necessities at the same time - paper towels, diapers, milk, & garbage bags! These are important things so I headed out today to purchase these items with the lowest OOP possible. I didn't get garbage bags, but I got everything else on my list.

CVS
8.99 Huggies Diapers
-3.00/1 IPQ - no longer available
-2.00/1 CRT printed today at CVS coupon kiosk
Paid 3.99 OOP, earned $3 EB
.99 cost

4.44 CVS Paper Towels (8 pack)

I bought both of these items plus 2 bags of CVS candy so I could use the $10 EB I had. I paid .62 OOP and earned the $3 EB for the Huggies. So, it was a net cost of 7.62, but I only paid .62 OOP.

FRY'S
I had a huge list planned, but there were lots of empty shelves when I got there. I'm not surprised, because its the last day of the sale. So I just grabbed rainchecks for those items (Kraft Cheese, Suave deodorant, Captain Crunch).

2.08 Fry's milk (2)

1.39 bananas (.49/lb.)
-1.00 off 3 lbs. bananas Bashas home mailer Q
.39 for 3 lbs. or .13/lb.

MEGA EVENT ITEMS:
1.49 Dannon Yogurt, 6 pack (4)
-1.50/1 MQ 6/6 SS (4)
.01 overage each, plus earned $2 OYNO for buying 4
2.04 profit total

1.49 Pillsbury Toaster Strudel (4)
-.35/1 MQ 5/16 SS (4)
.49 each
Not free, but needed fillers for my 5.00/25.00 coupon and my husband has been asking for these.

1.00 Softsoap (4)
-.50/1 IPQ (4) - print here
4 FREE

.49 Spaghettios (4)
-.50/2 IPQ (2) - print here
.01 overage each

1.49 Miracle Whip (4)
-1.00/1 Safeway coupon from Grilling Coupon Booklet (4)
-1.00/1 Facebook IPQ (4) - print here
.51 overage each

I used a 5.00/25.00 Bashas home mailer coupon and got .20 in reusable bag credits which brought my total to negative 60 cents. I added on a candy bar and gave it to my cashier.

Zero OOP, earned $2 Dannon OYNO = 2.00 profit!

If you didn't get to Fry's this week, don't worry. The Mega Event continues next week with a lot of the same products. Some of the prices have slightly increased, but there are still lots of freebies!
Check back tomorrow morning for "My Favorite Deals" list!

-3.00/1 CRT Q from CVS coupon kiosk

SUMMARY: 5.62 cost

I had to use all those Extra Bucks today, so I was happy to use those to get that huge box of diapers for less than a normal pack would have cost. Have you guys tried those Pretzel M&Ms? They are addicting! I love them straight out of the fridge - yummy!

4 stores & only 25 cents out of pocket!

CVS
I headed into CVS because I had a 5.00 EB that expired 5/31, so I wanted to use it as soon as possible. My local stores will accept expired extra bucks, but I didn't want to push my luck and wait to use it.

I was on the lookout for clearanced Huggies diapers after reading tales about shoppers finding them for 4.47 for a jumbo pack. No such luck for me, but I still had a good run...

4.67 subtotal
Paid with (2) $2 OYNOs and .67 on Safeway gift card

I did one more transaction of 2 Ready Pac fruit cups using the 3.00/2 CRT Q from my first order. I guess the fruit medley cup is 3.49, not 2.99 like the others, so I ended up paying .49 for the last two. No big deal - I love having pre-cut, fresh fruit in my fridge. I didn't look at the shelf tags to see when this deal ends, but I'm assuming it ends tonight. I'll keep an eye out and let you know if this is continuing.

SUMMARY: 5.16 cost

1.88 Fry's milk (4)

16.50 subtotal + 1.62 tax -.15 reusable bag credit = 17.97 total
Paid with Fry's gift cards

This was a super high cost transaction for me, but when you're out of diapers and milk, the household stops! Thank goodness for the Huggies deal at Fry's. This is when I am grateful to have my overage loaded on gift cards so I can spend them on necessities on my own clock.

ALBIE'S
I wanted to grab some .50 Van Camps Pork & Beans, but they were all out. I got a raincheck for that and the Nestle Drumstick deal KC outlined here. I ended up only grabbing one bottle of Kraft BBQ sauce for 50 cents minus a 25 cent Monopoly game piece store coupon. So I paid 25 cents total. I don't need any more BBQ sauce, but this will count towards my Kraft rebate. And I'm glad to see that silly Monopoly game produce SOME kind of savings.

After all of those stops, you would think I'd have more groceries to show for it! My final cost for today was 23.67, but my OOP was only 25 cents. Thank goodness for my stash of gift cards and OYNOs!

Last week's CVS & Wags Deals

I feel bad even posting this because we're already one day into the new sales, but I may as well... I went to one more CVS late Saturday night to try to find one more 2 oz. tube of sunblock to finish up the "Buy 2, Get $5 EB" deal. They had more than 10 sitting on the shelf! I just needed one, so I grabbed that and paid 2.19 on a CVS giftcard. I got a $5 EB for completing the sunblock deal (.62 profit) and I got a $1 EB for 4 scans on my green bag tag.

I had been avoiding Wags all week because I have a love/hate relationship with the Register Rewards carousel. Once you're on, you're on and you have to keep rolling those darn RRs every two weeks. And in Arizona, we are taxed on pre-coupon price, so even if I have a zero subtotal, I'm paying $2-3 in sales tax. Either way, I was almost out of shave gel and it was free after RR, so back on the carousel I went. And the free packing tape wasn't too bad either. :)

I did 2 transactions with 6 rolls of tape each and a Skintimate shave gel. I ended up paying over $2 in tax on each transaction, so it was definitely not profitable. Oh well. I paid in RRs and Wags gift cards. And I'll have smooth legs this summer.

Check back tomorrow for Mail Call Monday... can't wait to see what treasures are waiting for me!

Friday, April 30, 2010

All this AND I made $1.12!

Lots of deals out there! I've been running around chasing them all week!

CVS
I went to a different CVS to try to find that darn 2 oz. sunblock. They had one left on the shelf, so I grabbed that one plus a new green bag tag. I had a $3EB to use so I needed a filler to get to 3.00 and I have no idea where my green bag tag is. Truthfully, I am 100% sure it is swimming around on the bottom of my purse somewhere, but I haven't cared enough to really search for it. Why not just buy a new one with EBs and put 2 green bag tags to work? Anyway, I paid 44 cents on a CVS giftcard ... and I am on the hunt for one more 2 oz. bottle of sunblock.

FRY'S
I remembered today that I had a free reusable shopping bag waiting to be redeemed on each of my Fry's cards. Did you guys all design a reusable bag on Fry's website? If you didn't, make sure you do it by May 21st! Just for designing a bag (which took me less than a minute), Fry's will load a credit for a free reusable bag! If you are one of the top 10 bag designs chosen by voters, you'll win great prizes up to a $1000 Fry's gift card! Click here to get started on your design, so you can earn a free bag too! Yay for freebies! I also found 7 La Voz newspapers this morning, so I had 7 more .55/1 Mentos MQs to burn through.

ALBIE'S
Within those 7 La Voz newspapers, I also found more Marcal MQs! Yay for more free TP & paper towels! Except the free TP thing didn't quite work out, the cashier gave me the evil eye as soon as she saw me loading up the conveyer belt with Marcal and Mission products. She called the assistant manager over and there was a lot of whispering and pointing going on. The cashier wanted to limit me to 3 like coupons (I wanted to use my coupons in multiples of 7), but the assistant manager reminded her the limit of 3 like coupons only applied to doubling, which I did none of today. The cashier was a little peeved and handed the transaction over to the assistant manager to complete. Fine by me, I have nothing to hide. The assistant manager was super helpful, but wouldn't adjust my 2.00/1 Marcal MQs to the 1.13 toilet paper price. She said they wouldn't change the coupon's value even though my cashier at the same store did last night. Oh well, no biggie. I had her take those off my order. Note - Those 2.00/1 MQs are beepers on the TP so be prepared to ask the cashier to adjust the value down. It's really in the best interest of the store to do this - they'll make an .87 profit!

Albie's, Fry's, & CVS = 3.12 cost!

Sorry for the crappy picture... it looked better on my camera. Now that I have it on the computer, I can see the awful glare and how distant everything is. Sorry, I am not pulling everything back out to take a better picture!

I wasn't sure if the $2.00 Marcal Qs would give me overage on the 1.13 packs, so I added the bananas & cantaloupe just in case. The 2.00 Qs beeped and they were adjusted down, so no overage there, but that's ok. This was a great Albie's run and I will definitely be heading back for more money making Kraft Mac & Cheese!

I had a ton of DiGiorno House Party MQs expiring 4/30, so I wanted to use those up. We had a Suns playoff pizza party with some friends so the free DiGiorno was perfect!

CVS
I was able to print two more of these 1.00/1 Fig Newton IPQs, so I grabbed two more free boxes. No tax, so no OOP!

Quick note - I aways make a point of chatting it up with the store managers at my usual stores. In regards to store managers, I have found you'll attract more bees with honey. :) Today, as I ran in to grab my free Fig Newtons at CVS, the manager pulled me aside. Just as I was thinking, "Oh great. What now?", he handed me a 2010 Entertainment Book. He said the store had purchased it and used a couple of the coupons, but didn't need it anymore. He said he wanted their best shopper to have it because he knew I would put it to good use. How awesome is that? The best part is - there are 4 5.00/50.00 Safeway coupons in it! That totally made my day!

I've been avoiding Wags all week, because it hurts my head to think about all the Register Rewards and I HATE paying tax on the pre-coupon total! Unless there are major moneymakers, for me, it isn't worth all the trouble. I really want to stock upon Skintimate shave gel & Kotex U tampons (both free and/or profitable after coupons & RR), but I really don't want to jump back on the Wags RR carousel! We'll see what's left on the Wags' shelves tomorrow... I always get sucked back in!

Tuesday Shopping Round-Up! 4/27/10 edition

I grabbed some more 68 cent milk! With the way my family goes through milk, I couldn't pass up that price! I was really excited for the 100 calorie cheese packets. I thought it would be a great snack for my 1 year old and for me to take to work. I have to be honest... they're gross. I'm so sad, I really wanted them to be good. They taste like Velveeta cheese instead of Kraft block cheese. I guess that makes sense because the front of the package says "pasteurized cheese product". Kraft, if you are reading this, please make cheese cubes with REAL cheese! And if you could make it zero calories too, that would be fantastic.

The exciting news is the 2 oz. bottles of sunblock is included, so you buy 2 at 1.99 each, paying 3.98 and receiving 5.00 EB = 1.01 profit! I looked for the 2 oz. bottles of sunblock, but my CVS only had 1. I'll check at another CVS and report back.
